Marina Lickel

Marina Lickel is an architect working across design, research, and program strategy at the intersection of climate, territory, and collective practice. She holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism and a postgraduate qualification in Architecture, Education and Society from Escola da Cidade, São Paulo. Her work engages architecture as an open-ended process, developed through participatory frameworks and long-term collaboration with communities. Over six years with Estúdio Flume, she has worked across diverse regions in Brazil, particularly in the Amazon.
During her time at the studio, Estúdio Flume's projects received the Simon Architecture Prize from the Fundació Mies van der Rohe (2024), the Tomie Ohtake AkzoNobel Architecture Award (2023), and the IAB National Award (2023), and were nominated for the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize and the Swiss Architectural Award. The studio's work has been presented at the Lisbon Architecture Triennale (2025), the Biennale d'Architecture et de Paysage de Versailles (2025), and the São Paulo Architecture Biennale (2019). During this period the Estúdio has also been shortlist for the 2025 edition of the Lisbon Triennale Millennium bcp Début Award, which celebrates young architects under 35 a critical approach to contemporary practice.
